Next to the entrance to the courtyard of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep in an ornate building a small number of Buddha statues which are placed in a row and another point is the landmark of Chiang Mai, located west of downtown. Particularly well known is the gold-plated chedi, which is to contain a relic of the Buddha. The temple itself is reached by a long staircase, the banisters are decorated with snakes.
