Wat Chaiwatthanaram the eight runs chedi like bands are in a unique form, so could the royal burning towers of the Ayutthaya era have looked like. They had decorated the interior walls painted, the exterior walls were with 12 stucco relief's depicting scenes from the life of the Buddha, which had to be read in a clockwise direction . The paintings and relief's are preserved only in fragments. In the four corner Chedis there were two each in the four middle Chedis each of a large sitting Buddha statue in royal regalia. The coffered ceiling above these statues were made of wood and decorated with golden stars on a black lacquer.
